API Security Trends: Manufacturing

Noname Security collaborated with Opinion Matters to conduct research on API Security Trends in 2023. In this survey, 631 senior cybersecurity professionals were surveyed to better understand the challenges and trends facing UK and USA businesses when it comes to their API security posture.

Manufacturers have increased their digital investment over the past few years and accelerated the adoption of emerging technologies. Continued investments in advanced technologies will help manufacturers to develop the required agility to move forward in an uncertain world. However, APIs are opening manufacturers up to new threats and vulnerabilities as they look to integrate previously isolated operational systems.

What did our manufacturing respondents say?

• 73%  of respondents have experienced an API security incident in the last year .
• Web application firewalls  are the leading method of attack (28%) increased from 20% in 2022.
• 33%  have a partial view of their API inventory.
• Only 12%  of respondents are testing in real-time (a 1% decrease from last year).
