Noname Security Becomes First API Security Unicorn

Today, one year out of stealth, we are celebrating another milestone: $135 million in Series C funding at a $1 billion valuation. Noname Security is the FIRST API security unicorn. This is further validation that Noname Security is one of the fastest-growing cybersecurity companies ever. This round was funded by existing investors who wanted to double down on Noname Security and a new investor, Georgian. Georgian and Lightspeed, led the round with meaningful participation from existing investors including Insight Partners, Cyberstarts, Next47, Forgepoint, and The Syndicate Group (TSG).

When Shay and I started Noname Security, we had one mission in mind to enable organizations to accelerate their digital transformation journey by helping secure their APIs. We approached API security differently and that is why we have garnered the trust of the world’s largest brands and we are actively working with 20% of the Fortune 500 to help protect their digital environments from an ever-growing list of API vulnerabilities. As Gartner has predicted API’s will become the most frequent attack vector by 2022 causing data breaches for enterprise web applications; however, it’s already happening.

When I reflect on this past year, I’m left speechless. We started with four employees and were an unknown company. Today, we have over 200 employees and counting around the world. Noname’s growth could not have happened without an amazing level of commitment, collaboration, and dedication from our employees, investors, and partners. Our unparalleled traction in the market and most recent round of funding has solidified Noname Security’s leadership in the API security space. With $220 million in financing in our first year, we will further accelerate our global go-to-market efforts and continue investing in API security innovation. Co-founder & CEO

Oz Golan is the Co-founder and CEO of Noname Security, the first API Security unicorn startup which was founded in 2020. Previously Oz held multiple leadership positions including Research Team Lead and Director of R&D in the Israeli cybersecurity sector. Before his civilian career, he spent 5 years as a Security Researcher and Developer in Unit 8200 of the Israeli Intelligence Corps. Oz holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Computer Science from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem and is currently based in Tel Aviv, Israel.
